Production & Preservation Note: 45 Minutes From Hollywood serves as a stunning time capsule of the era. Unlike many sites from the silent film period that have been lost to development, the locations featured—including Hollywood Boulevard and Main Street in downtown Culver City—remain remarkably intact, offering an essential "Then and Now" look at the Southern California streetscape as it existed nearly a century ago.

After Harold Lloyd departed Hal Roach Studios to launch his own production company, the studio cast actor Glenn Tryon to lead a new series of silent comedy shorts. One of the most notable entries, 45 Minutes From Hollywood, serves as a stunning time capsule of the era.

Unlike many lost landmarks of the silent film era, nearly all the 1926 filming locations in this movie remain intact. Viewers can see remarkably preserved views of Hollywood Boulevard and Main Street in downtown Culver City.

As your tour of these Los Angeles filming locations continues in this video, you'll also get a glimpse at "either a bank robbery or actors filming a movie" outside of 2501 Washington Blvd, built in 1922. Fortunately, the current apartment building boom hasn't yet reached this area of Los Angeles, and the building and it's neighboring building look just as they did a century ago.

For fans of silent film history, 45 Minutes From Hollywood offers a rare "Then and Now" look at Los Angeles area streets that have remained virtually unchanged for a century.
