A Honolulu Hotel As Filming Location

Though the Ilikai Hotel in Honolulu has gone through several cosmetic changes since I Dream of Jeannie filmed here in late 1967, the architectual lines of the building remain the same. This scene was filmed in the back of the hotel.

The Plot

In this classic episode, Jeannie has summoned King Kamehameha I to modern-day Honolulu.

This Quick Preview video looks at the King's visit to the Ilikai Hotel as he struggles to confront mid-20th century innovations like luggage conveyor belts and fountains ("the rain is falling up!").

A Modern Honolulu Hotel As Filming Location

Filming took place at the hotel entrance and in the back garden area. Aside from a few landscaping and architectural changes, the filming location is easily recognizable today.
