Featured Historical Landmarks:
- Palms Residential Alleys: The alley south of Woodbine Street between Motor Avenue and Mentone Avenue provides the background as the Gang prepare their custom horse-drawn "camper" for their hunting expedition.
- Motor Avenue at Woodbine Street: 3392 Motor Avenue is visible in the background during several of the scenes early in the movie.
Production & Preservation Note: Released during the beginning of the "talkies" era, Bear Shooters offers a dramatic visual contrast between early twentieth-century Palms with it's unpaved, dirt alleys and vacant lots and those same spots, paved over and built up in the 21st century. While the original grid lines, alleys, and street positions remain fully intact, the wide-open, underdeveloped spaces that defined the Palms neighborhood in 1930 have since transitioned into a highly dense residential landscape.
The Gang has constructed an unforgettable looking "camper" and head out on a hunting trip.
A favorite location for the makers of The Little Rascals / Our Gang films was in the Palms neighborhood of Los Angeles and that's the area covered in this quick preview video below.
The then and now movie locations comparisons dramatically show the changes this area has undergone since 1930. The alleys and streets are the same, but the wide open spaces seen in the 1930 film have been replaced by a very densely developed neighborhood.
