Historical Production & Location Reference

Film: Bouncing Babies (1929)
Stars: Our Gang / The Little Rascals (Allen "Farina" Hoskins, Bobby "Wheezer" Hutchins, Joe Cobb)
Studio: Hal Roach Studios
Featured Historical Landmarks:
  • Media Park, 9070 West Venice Blvd, Los Angeles: Originally a part of Culver City, the park was transferred to Los Angeles in 1933. A main feature of the park is the Pacific Electric Railway Ivy Substation, built in 1907 and still standing today.
  • 3570 Motor Avenue: A key filming location landmark within the Palms neighborhood, this commercial building was used as a filming location in Hal Roach Studios comedies from the mid-1920s right up through 1976 when it appeared in the Charlie's Angels episode Target: Angels.

Production & Preservation Note: Standing as one of the very first sound releases in the Our Gang / The Little Rascals series, Bouncing Babies features an extensive amount of on-location filming. The movie documents the early layout of Media Park - complete with a fountain - and the adjacent Palms neighborhood streetscapes before modern development reshaped the area.

One of the first "talking films" in The Little Rascals series, this film features quite a bit of location filming, both in Culver City and the Palms neighborhood of Los Angeles.
