| Film: | Hi'-Neighbor! (1934) |
| Stars: | Our Gang / The Little Rascals (George "Spanky" McFarland, Matthew "Stymie" Beard, Scotty Beckett, Jackie Taylor, Wally Albright, Jane Barnes) |
| Studio: | Hal Roach Studios |
Production & Preservation Note: A classic showcase of the Gang's ingenuity for building vehicles, Hi'-Neighbor! utilizes the topography of the Silver Lake area to establish the steep hill where the Gang will race the rich kid. The movie also makes use of real-world filming locations in the Palms neighborhood west of Overland Avenue as the neighborhood where the rich kid lives.
A new rich kid has moved into the neighborhood in this Little Rascals movie, and he's got a shiny fire truck built for two. Wally's girlfriend is instantly attracted to the new kid and his "new car" and goes off on a ride with him. Not to be outdone, the Gang build their OWN fire engine and there is a race down an unforgettable, very steep hill.
The filming location of the new kid's house was a real house at 3510 Glendon Avenue, located near Overland Blvd in the Palms neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Scenes of the Gang building their own fire engine were filmed at the Hal Roach Studios ranch which today is part of the Beverlywood neighborhood.
The very steep hill is found in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles on Fargo Street.
