Featured Historical Landmarks:
  • Motor Avenue and Woodbine Street Intersection: Serving as the main backdrop for the Gang's high-stakes schemes against the dog catcher, this familiar corner stands out as a primary filming location for the short.

  • 3392 Motor Avenue: The filming location landmark that appears in dozens of Hal Roach Studios comedies made in the 1920s and 1930s - and still standing today.

Production & Preservation Note: Love My Dog acts as an exceptional time capsule for the heart of the Palms neighborhood in Los Angeles. The film captures a rare look at the neighborhood's branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, the early days of Woodbine Park and the filming location landmark 3392 Motor Avenue.

In this silent comedy from the Our Gang / The Little Rascals series, Love My Dog, the Little Rascals go to hilarious lengths to disguise their pets and outsmart the neighborhood dog catcher. As one of the later silent shorts in the series, it features extensive on-location filming that serves as a beautiful time capsule of the Westside of Los Angeles in the 1920s.

The Famous Motor Avenue and Woodbine Street Intersection

Once again, Hal Roach Studios utilized the Palms neighborhood on the West Side of Los Angeles for this production. Specifically, the intersection of Motor Avenue and Woodbine Street serves as the primary filming location.

If you have been following our Our Gang / The Little Rascals filming locations series, these streets will look very familiar! This corner was a favorite for the production team and appears in several other iconic shorts.
