- Venice Boulevard PE Railway Station: Captures rare footage of a historic Pacific Electric "Red Car" passenger train and the original transit station footprint serving Culver City and Palms.
- Motor Avenue Corridor: Located immediately north of the historic MGM Studios lot (now Sony Pictures), providing the filming location for the chaotic runaway baby carriage climax.
Production & Preservation Note: Serving as one of the absolute final silent short entries in the Our Gang series, Noisy Noises provides a visual record of West Los Angeles in 1929. The film freezes a moment in time, documenting the layout of early rail transit lines and the early decades of Motor Avenue in the Palms neighborhood of Los Angeles before the post-war building boom permanently altered the landscape.
The Plot
In one of the final silent shorts in the Our Gang / The Little Rascals series, Noisy Noises stars Joe Cobb as he attempts to get his crying baby brother, Rupert, to go to sleep. The film wraps up with a chaotic climax involving a runaway baby carriage, a neighborhood monkey, and a wild ride through the streets of the Los Angeles area.
Pacific Electric Railway and Venice Blvd History
This short serves as an incredible visual record of the Pacific Electric Railway, giving us clear footage of a "Red Car" passenger train and the original station that once stood on Venice Blvd, serving the Culver City and Palms communities.
Filming Near MGM Studios (Sony Pictures)
Beyond the railway, the movie features extensive on-location filming on Motor Avenue, located just north of what was then MGM Studios (now the Sony Pictures lot). Noisy Noises is a great time capsule that shows how the Palms neighborhood has transformed from the silent era to today.
