The Taxi Boys - Hot Spot - (1932) - Filming Locations

Starring Ben Blue and Billy Gilbert, Hot Spot is a standout entry in The Taxi Boys series produced by Hal Roach Studios in the early 1930s. The plot follows a taxi driver (Ben Blue) whose attempt to help a customer clean her dress results in a comedic disaster, leaving him with a half-naked passenger and a chaotic assist from fellow taxi driver Billy Gilbert.

Directed by Del Lord - A Link to The Three Stooges

Beyond the comedy, this short is a fascinating historical document. It was directed by Del Lord, who would later define the on-screen slapstick style of The Three Stooges. Like many of Lord's early works, Hot Spot features extensive on-location outdoor filming, providing a rare look at the Los Angeles area landscape of 1932.

Landmark Location - The Culver Hotel

Much of the movie was filmed in Downtown Culver City, California. The most prominent filming location is the corner of Van Buren Place and Washington Blvd, situated directly across from the iconic Culver Hotel.
