Featured Historical Landmarks:
- N. St. Andrews Place & Fernwood Avenue: The southwest corner of this Hollywood intersection serves as the primary outdoor backdrop for the tracking sequence where the Stooges search street corners for the missing dog, Garcon.
Architectural Note: The building captured in this outdoor sequence miraculously dodged demolition when the Hollywood Freeway (US-101) sliced directly through the neighborhood. The highway was constructed immediately behind the property line, leaving this specific vintage facade intact and unchanged over the decades.
In this classic comedy movie short, the Stooges are (somehow) veterinarians and run their own pet hospital. A rich lady brings in her dog - Garcon - for a surgery. Apparently, the surgery is a success (!) but while the dog is recuperating, two dognappers steal Garcon and hold him for ransom.
While most of this film was made in the studio, there is a sequence where the Stooges go out looking for Garcon. This movie location is shown in this video and miraculously dodged demolition when the 101 Freeway was built right in back of the filming site. The building seen in the film is still with us, unchanged over all the decades.
