Our Gang / The Little Rascals - Honky-Donkey (1934) - Filming Locations

Rich kid Wally Albright is tired of his sheltered life and wants to play with real kids his own age. He instructs his driver to "drive down some alleys, and some dirty ones," where he soon discovers the Gang and their donkey, Algebra!

As part of our Los Angeles filming locations tour, this then and now look at the 1934 Our Gang / The Little Rascals movie Honky-Donkey takes us to a historic alley location just off the intersection of Venice Blvd and Bagley Avenue on the Westside of Los Angeles.

This landmark filming location was seen in many other comedy films in the 1920s and 1930s, including:

Laurel and Hardy - Bacon Grabbers (1929)

Charley Chase - A Treat For The Boys (1927)

Remarkably, every building captured on film in 1934 in Honky-Donkey is still standing today - a rare find in a city known for tearing down its history! Keep a lookout at the beginning of the video for a glimpse of the historic Culver Hotel, which remains a landmark in the area.
