| Movie Title: | L.A. Story (1991) |
| Written By: | Steve Martin |
| Starring: | Steve Martin |
| Director: | Mick Jackson |
Production & Preservation Note: This block of Windward Avenue, closest to the beach, has been a popular filming location for over 100 years. Buster Keaton filmed his 1921 comedy short movie The High Sign here, Orson Wells used this filming location for scenes from his 1958 movie Touch of Evil and the 1988 movie Colors starring Sean Penn and Robert Duvall also filmed here.
Steve Martin's midlife crisis results in him getting involved with a 20-something woman (Sarah Jessica Parker) who lives in the bohemian Venice Beach section of Los Angeles.
If you're in the Los Angeles area you most definitely want to spend a few hours in the Venice Beach neighborhood - a popular filming location for more than 100 years.
In L.A. Story, the first block of Windward Avenue is the filming location and the historic building at 23 Windward Avenue - with a colorful mural painted on it's west side - is prominently featured.
Amazingly, the few remaining original buildings on this block are not currently protected by any landmark designations.
