- Tantalus Lookout - Puu Ualakaa State Park: One of the first stops as the Brady's take us on a tour of Honolulu.
- King Kamehameha I Statue: A major historical figure in the history of the islands.
- Owls Beach - Sans Souci State Recreational Park: A popular beach with the locals, just a short drive south of Waikiki Beach.
Production & Preservation Note: Tantalus Lookout provides the same unobstructed views today as it did when the Brady Bunch visited in 1972. The King Kamehameha I Statue has been wonderfully maintained and shows no signs of aging. However, Owls Beach at Sans Souci State Recreational Park has experienced significant beach erosion over the decades.
The Plot
The Brady's go on a Hawaii vacation (though of course, Mike Brady is there to work on a construction project).
A Tour Of Honolulu And Oahu From 1972
This episode is a wonderful tour of Honolulu and the island of Oahu - and is a perfect time capsule of the area as it was in 1972. All the locations and landmarks captured on film for this episode are still standing, making for a great filming locations tour today in the 21st century.
Tantalus Lookout - Puu Ualakaa State Park
The Bradys came up here for a photo-op, providing us with a great view from this vantage point, 1,000 feet above the streets of Honolulu.
King Kamehameha I Statue
King Kamehameha I is credited with having united the Hawaiian Island chain - under HIS rule of course. This was not a peaceful coming together though, it can more accurately be stated that Kamehameha - from his base on the Big Island - conquered the other islands through military means. Nonetheless, he is celebrated even to this day as the man who united the islands.
Owls Beach - Sans Souci State Recreational Park
This beautiful stretch of beach remains a great place to enjoy the sun, sand and surf. It also has the advantage of being separate from the tourist area of Waikiki Beach and is much less crowded.
