- The 3800 Block of Main Street (Culver City): Miraculously, and with no assistance from any historical preservation or landmarking designation, this block in Culver City has survived completely intact, with all the original 1910s and 1920s buildings still standing today.
Production & Preservation Note: A rarity in the Los Angeles area, every building on both sides of Main Street is still standing, with only minor facade changes over the decades.
The Plot
Taxi drivers Ben Blue and Billy Gilbert accidentally side-swipe a policeman's motorcycle, which results in a high speed chase through the streets of Downtown Culver City.
Matching Up The Filming Location
This chase scene was filmed across three different Culver City blocks:
- Filming Location #1: Van Buren Place just off Washington Blvd, with the landmark Culver Hotel visible in the background.
- Filming Location #2: Ince Blvd at Washington Blvd, with 9305 Washington Blvd (now part of The Culver Steps).
- Filming Location #3: Main Street, between Culver Blvd and Venice Blvd.
