- Palms Elementary School: This school at 3520 Motor Avenue has been a part of the neighborhood for over 100 years.
- 3570 Motor Avenue: At the corner of Motor Avenue and Tabor Street, this building housed the Bacon Pharmacy which appeared in many Hal Roach Studios movies of the 1920s and early 1930s.
- 3392 Motor Avenue: The filming location landmark that appears in dozens of Hal Roach Studios comedies made in the 1920s and 1930s - and still standing today.
Production & Preservation Note: A time capsule for the center of the Palms neighborhood in Los Angeles. Captured on film is a very clear look at the landmark 3392 Motor Avenue building, which served as the local water utility company when it was built in 1910. We also see the entrance to the Bacon Pharmacy located on the northeast corner of Motor Avenue and Tabor Street at 3570 Motor Avenue. This building has now been replaced by a large apartment building.
The Plot
In this silent comedy from the Our Gang / The Little Rascals series, Your Own Back Yard, Farina has been shunned by the Gang because he's too young to hang out with them. The film follows Farina as he attempts to amuse himself with his pet lamb in tow.
The Palms Neighborhood - 1925 vs Today
Your Own Back Yard was filmed entirely outdoors and on location and is a valuable time capsule of the Westside of Los Angeles from 100 years ago.
